Home Care Aide (HCA) Training Program

Enrollment Agreement

The Private Vocational Schools Act, RCW 28C.10 and WAC 490-105. administered by the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board requires each student enrolled in Home Care Aide (HCA) 75 Hour Training to complete an Enrollment Agreement. This law offers consumer protection for those who enroll in private career school programs offering credentials below the degree level.

This is an additional but mandatory piece of paperwork that our students must complete and will require access to a printer and the ability to return a signed form via mail, email or fax.

Students may begin their online course immediately (downloading workbooks, watching lectures, submitting assignments) but we cannot grade their work until this form is returned to us.  Downloading and returning this form will be the first 'assignment' encountered in HCA courses and bundles.

A newly hired non-credentialed LTC worker must complete 75 hours of training within 120 days of hire and become certified as a Home Care Aide with 200 days of hire.

The full cost of our 75 Hour Course is $345.  Please see the price list tab above for a breakdown of the costs and options as we do have a Pay-as-you-Go option.

Mandatory Steps to Becoming Licensed as a Home Care Aide

1.) WA Dept of Health:

Within 14 days of hire, you should submit a Home Care Aide Certification Packet to the DOH.  The DOH will be registering you for your State exam with Prometric as part of this application process. The application fee is ($85) and the exam fee is ($127). These fees are non-refundable.

Note:  HIV/Bloodborne Pathogen training IS included in the 75 hours of training.

2.)  Complete 75- Hours of HCA Training with Cornerstone Healthcare Training:  We are a licensed, private vocational school offering 75 hours of DSHS approved training.

3.)Once you have completed your 75-hours of HCA training- YOU will need to mail, fax or email your 75 Hour Certificate to Completion to the Department of Health.

Washinton State Department of Health

Mail:  Home Care Aide Credentialing
P.O. Box 47877
Olympia,  WA  98504-7877

Fax:  (360) 236-2701

4.)  Prometric:  When your 75 hours of training is complete (the part you do w/ Cornerstone) and the DOH has received your 75 Hour Certificate, Prometric will email you an Admission to Test (ATT) letter. This letter will provide important information about the time, date and location of the exam.   Prometric is the company the Department of Health contracts with to administer the certification exam (written and skills). You MUST have an email address for this process.

Note:  Cornerstone does NOT submit/manage your application or exam scheduling, etc.  This is the student's responsibility and the licensing/exam fees are NOT included in our program costs.

Detailed information about the HCA exam can be found on the Prometric website and we encourage all students to read the Candidate ID Bulletin so that you know what to expect.

Questions about your application or general HCA credentialing questions should be directed to the Department of Health Home Care Aide Call Center at (360) 236-4700 between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday.

We graduate around 100 students a month from our 75 Hour course. Our curriculum is comprised of a combination of video lectures, Powerpoints, written assignments/papers, competency scenarios, quizzes and multiple choice exams.  Our Skills Lab (the only in-person requirement) is an intensive class designed to prepare you for the State skills test.  Our Instructor has gone through HCA testing herself and does an excellent job of alleviating student's anxiety over the testing process. You will 'graduate' our program with confidence!
